The People

I found myself smiling quite a bit in Myanmar. To the point at which my cheeks ached. It was because I was returning all of the smiles directed at me! The people of Myanmar are what I will remember always and forever about this journey. Whether adorned with the traditional Thanaka (the yellowish-white cosmetic paste you'll see on the faces of the women and children, which is made from ground bark), or sporting a smile of teeth rotted and reddened by the habit of chewing betel nut, the people are startlingly beautiful. And friendly. And kind. And generous, welcoming, warm... pick any favorable adjective and it will apply.
